A huge thank you goes out to Broadway Prescription Shop for hosting the artwork of 10 of our employees on September 2, as part of the “First Friday” Art Showing in Cape Girardeau.
Not only did the local business give VIP a place to display the artwork, the store staff set up the displays, draping, and framing of the artist biographies. In addition to VIP and AID, other organizations/individuals represented at Broadway Prescription included SADIE, Horizon, and The Crowe Gallery.
Employees, staff and family members attended the event, as well as members of the community who were viewing the artwork in the “First Friday” Art Tour. In all, approximately 50 people viewed the artists’ creations.
While many of the guests that evening were known either by the store staff (who were there to meet and mingle with everyone) or by the VIP staff and artists, one unexpected moment happened when a couple asked if they could purchase one of the artist’s drawings. The couple explained that they buy local art and really loved the international flavor Donna had with her images.
Entries for the art show began to be collected in July as employees at all three plant locations were asked to bring in their arts and crafts. Ten individuals representing all three workshop locations and a SHINE volunteer entered their artwork in the showing. Submissions ranged from paintings to needlework items to beaded necklaces to pottery.
Due to the success of this first showing, Broadway Prescription is considering making this an annual event.
