The SHINE Volunteer Mentor program works through Project Stage Light and is sponspored by AID.
SHINE stands for: Sharing, Helping, and Inspiring New Experiences. As a SHINE volunteer you will work to ensure that the purpose of AID is reflected in all of your actions. You will strive to help achieve all goals and function as a team with other volunteers, consumers and staff members. You will work toward the development of new programs, advocacy, as well as the mental wellness of the consumers you serve.
The 2011 production has already been completed, but applications are now being accepted for volunteers for our 2012 production (not yet named). While the actors will be individuals with developmental disabilities chosen from the local area, we also need mentors who will guide the actors through the entire rehearsal and performance process.
Whether you are interested in performing on stage as an actor, a mentor, or if your interests lie behind the scenes, we would enjoy speaking with you. It takes many hands to create a production of this size and we welcome as many community members as possible. Please download the Volunteer Application listed on this site, fill it out in its entirety, and mail it to our office or stop by for a visit.
"This is just an amazing experience you can't get anywhere else. These are some of the most incredible people I've ever met." -- Taylor, Notre Dame Regional High School student and SHINE volunteer
